Abstract:

PURPOSE: To optionally control the surface energy of a plastic surface, readily modify the surface and impart improved adhesive force, etc., by treating the plastic surface with plasma (corona) using a mixed gas of a specific fluorine- containing compound and a gas.

CONSTITUTION: A mixed gas of (A) a fluorine-containing compound, e.g. CF4, etc., capable of imparting hydrophobicity to a plastic surface by plasma (corona) treatment and (B) a gas, e.g. helium, etc., capable of imparting hydrophilicity to the above-mentioned surface by the above-mentioned treatment is used to treat the plastic surface with plasma (corona) and modify the aimed plastic surface. The above-mentioned mixed gas is preferably used to treat the surface under atmospheric pressure to reduce the surface energy of the plastic surface.
