Title:
MODIFICATION OF POLYMER SURFACE WITH FLAME RADICAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH047337
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To impart functions such as hydrophilicity and adhesiveness to the surface of a molding such as a fiber or a film comprising a polymer by bringing the molding into contact with flame radicals and/or flame ions generated in a burning flame. CONSTITUTION:At least one object selected from the group consisting of a fiber, a cloth, a film, a sheet and another molding each of which comprises a polymer is passed through mainly a flame part which is not a blue gas flame in a burning flame generated in the combustion of a combustible substance to thereby keep substantially the original shape of the above object and to modify the surface of the object with flame radicals and/or flame ions. As the combustible substances which can generate the above flame, fuel gases such as city gas, acetylene gas, propane gas and butane gas, liquids such as petroleum and solids such as coal can be used.
