Title:
MODIFICATION OF POLYSACCHARIDE IN DENSIFIED FLUID
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP11092501
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To esterify and/or etherify polysaccharides to a high degree of substitution by reacting the polysaccharides with an activation unsaturated compound reagent capable of reacting with the polysaccharides in a densified fluid.

Polysaccharides such as starch, a reagent such as a reactive monohalogen-substituted alkane and a catalyst and/or solvent accompanying agent are introduced into supercritical CO2 stream jacket batch reactor 3. Then a densified fluid is supplied from a fluid storage tank through mixer 1 to preheating equipment and after being heated at 0-300°C, compressed to a pressure of 1.03-703.07 kg/cm2, fed into a batch reactor 3 and allowed to react at 0-300°C and for 5 min to 48 hr. A fluid-soluble unreacted sample and modified polysaccharides are introduced from the batch reactor 3 to a filter 4 to remove the solid component containing the modified polysaccharides, the densified fluid is cycled to a mixer. On the other hand, the solid component is washed with an excess of densified fluid and then washed with water in decanter 5 to remove water-soluble byproducts.
