PURPOSE: To obtain the title polymer outstanding in adhesivity, laminate processing suitability, etc., useful as a binder resin for printing inks, by reaction between a specific hydroxyl group-contg. chlorinated polypropylene and a free NCO group-contg. polyurethane.
CONSTITUTION: Firstly, a chlorinated polypropylene is made to react with a radically reactive double bond-contg. lactone polymer to produce a hydroxyl group-contg. chlorinated polypropylene 5,000-500,000 in molecular weight. Thence, this chlorinated polypropylene is allowed to react with a free NCO group-contg. polyurethane 600-200,000 in molecular weight, thus obtaining the objective polymer. The reaction ratio (on a weight basis) of the lactone polymer to the chlorinated polypropylene is pref. 5/95-75/25. The blend ratio of the hydroxyl group- contg. chlorinated polypropylene to the free NCO group-contg. polyurethane in carrying out the reaction is pref. (on a weight basis) 15/85-50/50.
