Abstract:

To provide a method fiber material having enough moisture absorption, softness, and durability, and capable of being produced at a reduced production cost, and to provide a method for producing the same.

This modified fiber material is given by conducting graft polymerization of one or several kinds of monomers including at least 2-acrylamido-2- methylpropanesulfonic acid (AXQ) but not including a cross-linkable monomer into the inside of the fiber material, wherein the modified fiber material has a rate of graft polymerization of the AXQ of ≥3%, and further has a rate of moisture absorption of ≥3% at a relative humidity of 65% at 20°C. The method for producing the modified fiber material has a process for impregnating the fiber material with a monomer solution which contains one or several kinds of the monomers including at least the AXQ but not including the cross-linkable monomer and contains a polymerization initiator and another process for making the monomer solution-impregnated fiber material contact with steam of a temperature of ≥100°C.
