Abstract:
To provide a modified fibrous base material which has improved water resistance without changing texture and can maintain sufficient strength even when wet with water.SOLUTION: A modified fibrous base material is coated with a cured polysilazane compound having a structure represented by the following formula (1), and the fibers are only organic fibers or only inorganic fibers, wherein the fibrous base material is selected from paper, paperboard, or cloth. (Where, R1 and R2 are a group selected from hydrogen atoms, aliphatic hydrocarbon groups having 1-6 carbon atoms, aromatic hydrocarbon groups having 6-12 carbon atoms, or alkoxy groups having 1-6 carbon atoms, and may be identical or different; however, at least one of R1 and R2 is a hydrogen atom bonded to a silicon atom.)SELECTED DRAWING: None
