Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a new pigment having excellent pigment characteristics and useful for coloring of plastics, varnish paint and printing ink.
CONSTITUTION: The new pigment is a gamma-quinacridone pigment, which is obtd. by directly oxidizing 6,13-dihydroquinacridone in a basic dimethyl sulfoxide medium in the presence of a catalytic amt. of an anthraquinone deriv. The pigment shows such an X-ray diffraction pattern having four high intensity lines corresponding to the double irradiation angle 2θ of 6.7, 13.3, 14.0 and 26.6, one medium intensity line corresponding to 2θ=13.6, and seven rather low intensity lines corresponding to 17.2, 20.6, 21.9, 24.0, 25.3, 28.1 and 28.8. The pigment is crystalline having 0.2 to 0.8 μm average particle size showing yellowish-red color.
