Title:
MODIFIED HYDROCARBON RESIN AND ITS USE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3483175
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a modified hydrocarbon resin excellent in initial hue, heat- resistant hue and heat stability and also excellent in compatibility with especially an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer.
SOLUTION: This modified hydrocarbon resin has a weight-average molecular weight of 300-3,000 and obtained by grafting 0.1-10wt.% monomer represented by the formula: R1COO(CH2)nCR2=CR3R4 (wherein R1 is a 1-5C alkyl; R2, R3 and R4, which may be the same or different from each other, are each hydrogen or methyl; and (n) is 0 or a positive integer) onto a hydrocarbon resin obtained by copolymerizing 100 pts.wt. vinylaromatic hydrocarbon with 5-100 pts.wt. arbitrary fraction selected from among fractions based on 4 and 5C unsaturated hydrocarbons and produced as by-products in e.g. petroleum refining and petroleum cracking.
