Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce the occurrence of green stool of bottle-fed babies, by adding an orthophosphate to a milk powder stock solution containing a whey component and sterilizing the resultant solution while heating in producing a modified milk powder for infant rearing.
CONSTITUTION: An orthophosphate, e.g. monosodium hydrogenphosphate, etc., preferably almost neutral orthophosphate, is added to a milk powder stock solution containing a whey component and the resultant mixture solution is sterilized while heating to afford the aimed modified milk powder for infant rearing. If ferrous pyrophosphate or ferric pyrophosphate or both as an enriching iron salt are added, occurrence of green stool is effectively prevented.
