Abstract:
To provide a modified polysaccharide that is obtained from a natural raw material, has high affinity for water or an alkaline aqueous solution and is highly stable in an aqueous solution.
The modified polysaccharide is obtained by an addition reaction of an unsaturated carbon bond of at least one compound selected from among 4-6C polycarboxylic acids having an unsaturated bond and maleic anhydride, to a polysaccharide.
