To provide a modified polytetrafluoroethylene having excellent film-forming properties and forming a film having excellent transparency, to obtain an aqueous dispersion and an aqueous dispersion composition thereof and to provide a method for producing the modified polytetrafluoroethylene.
The modified polytetrafluoroethylene is obtained by polymerizing tetrafluoroethylene with a comonomer. The modified polytetrafluoroethylene is characterized as follows. The amount of the comonomer unit derived from the comonomer is 0.1-1.0 mass% based on the modified polytetrafluoroethylene. The average primary particle diameter of the modified polytetrafluoroethylene is 220-500 nm. The comonomer is hexafluoropropylene, a perfluoro(alkyl vinyl ether) and/or vinylidene fluoride.
