Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel modifier for an aqueous coating agent which improves the coating suitability of an aqueous coating agent and improves the coating quality after coating.
SOLUTION: This modifier comprises, in 100 pts.wt. total amount of monomers, (1) from 25 to 90 pts.wt. methacrylic acid (salt), (2) from 1 to 30 pts.wt. monomer A of the formula: CH2=C(R1)-CO[OCH(R3)CH(R3)]n-OR4 (wherein R1 is H or CH3; R2 and R3 are each H or an 1-2C alkyl group; R4 is an 1-4C alkyl group; and n is from 3 to 100) and (3) a copolymer of from 1 to 60 pts.wt. monomer B of the formula: CH2=C(R5)-COOR6 (wherein R5 is H or CH3; and R6 is an 1-2C alkyl group) and from 0 to 30 pts.wt. other ethylenically unsaturated monomers C which are copolymerizable therewith.
