Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform copolymer having high compatibility with a monomer to be polymerized, by using a specific sulfuric acid ester (salt) as a modifier in the modification process with an anionic monomer and polymerizing an ethylenic unsaturated monomer in the presence of the modifier. CONSTITUTION:An ethylenic unsaturated monomer is polymerized in the presence of a polymerization initiator selected from a persulfate, a peroxide compound, an azo compound and a redox initiator using a modifier consisting of a sulfuric acid ester (salt) of formula (Z is aryl which may be substituted with alkyl, alkaryl or aralkyl or 1-24C alkyl or alkenyl which may be substituted with aryl; R is H or CH3; A is 2-4C alkylene which may be substituted with aryl; a, b and c are 0-50; M is univalent or bivalent cation; m is 1 or 2).
