Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dimmer adaptable to more kinds of illumination loads.SOLUTION: A dimmer 1 includes a pair of input terminals 11 and 12, a bidirectional switch 2, a phase detection unit 3, an input unit 4, and a control unit 5. Based on a detection signal from the phase detection unit 3, the control unit 5 performs dimming control of controlling the bidirectional switch 2 so that bidirectional current is passed between the pair of the first and second input terminals 11, 12 during a variable time VT1 out of a half period of an AC voltage. In the dimming control, the length of the variable time VT1 is determined according to the dimming level. The control unit 5 performs start control for setting the variable time VT1 to a starting time ST1 for a certain period of time from the start of the control unit 5, and then performs the dimming control. The start time ST1 is shorter than the variable time VT1 in the dimming control.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
