The moistening cylinder 1 mounted at the water slip roller 2 for an offset printer comprises a cylindrical pipe knitting fabric using filaments made of a solvent spinning cellulose fiber and using as ground yarns water shrinkable fiber. The cellulose fiber is manufactured by spinning solution obtained by dissolving pulp as a raw material in a solvent by means of a wet and dry spinning method. The cellulose fiber has a circular skin structure and has higher degree of polymerization and crystallization and lower water swelling, higher strength and Young's modulus and higher utility ratio of dry and wet strength and Young's modulus than a regenerated cellulose fiber, while it has higher water retentivity. Simultaneously, single yarn fineness is finely set to hold strong Young's modulus and to further improve its water retentivity.
