This moisture absorbing and releasing material is a composite material produced by integrating a fiber web to one or both surfaces of a mesh structure. The fiber web contains ≥30 wt.% cellulose fiber and the composite material has a water retention of ≥250 g/m2, an air permeability of 50-700 cm3/(cm2×sec) and a wet compression strength of ≥0.1 N/5 cm.
