Title:
MOISTURE DETECTING PART FOR SNOWFALL DETECTOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3260478
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an inexpensive snowfall detector in which the size and power consumption are reduced by providing a microspace between the electrode equipped with a heating element and other electrodes at moisture detecting part.
CONSTITUTION: The moisture detecting part comprises a vertical electrode made of a stainless steel pipe 1 and metal rods 2a, 2b, 2c disposed closely thereto. The pipe 1 is electrically insulated from the metal rods 2a, 2b, 2c through a microgap. In order to prevent contact, upper and lower supports 4, 3 are provided. The lower support 3 is fixed with a temperature detecting part 5 for detecting low temperature during snowfall. The metal rods 3a, 3b, 3c are connected in the support 3 to provide electrodes of same potential. A nichrome wire is secured in the pipe 1 using a heat-resistant dielectric tiller having high thermal conductivity. Consequently, the entire surface of the pipe 1 is heated uniformly to melt the snowflake. The melt water intrudes into the microspace between the electrodes thus allowing the detection of moisture.
