PURPOSE: To enhance power plant efficiency by providing a compact moisture separator enabling assured moisture separation from hot steam, wet steam is made to collide with curved plate installed near the steam inlet and the remaining moisture separating elements.
CONSTITUTION: Wet steam from the steam inlet 31 collides with the curved plate 24 to allow moisture to be separated. The separated moisture passes through grooves 28 for drain route and flows from the edges of partition plates 22 to the drain outlet 33 as shown by arrows. Steam passes the steam routes chamber 26 while producing drain which flows through gap between the lid 35 and the notches 34 of the bottom plate 23 and goes to the drain outlet 33. Wet steam passes through moisture separating elements 25 where moisture is removed to produce dried steam which flows through the dry steam route chamber 27 and sent to a turbine. Moisture removed by the moisture separating elements 25 is collected in the drain trap 29 and discharged to the drain outlet 33 through pipe 30.
