PURPOSE: To prevent the entrainment of slag and to obtain a casting slab having excellent surface characteristic by arranging a ceramic plate vibrator, which is positioned on molten steel surface at its center part and is submerged by the prescribed depth in the molten steel at its lower end, along an inner wall of the upper part of a mold and giving high frequency vibration, to develop the solidified shell at the prescribed depth.
CONSTITUTION: When the molten steel 17 is poured into the inner part 14 of the mold by a submerged nozzle 15 from a tundish, vertical vibration is given to the ceramic-made plate vibrator 19 having low thermal conductivity and heat resistance, arranged around the upper part of the mold inner wall face 12a. Therefore, the molten steel pool 17a is not developed to solidify at the contacting part with the ceramic plate vibrator 19, but started to develop the solidified shell 17b just below the lower end part 19a of the vibrator at the contacting position with the mold inner wall face 12a, and so powder layer 22 and slag layer 23 are not entrained at the molten steel surface 18.
