Title:
MOLD BINDER CURED WITH CARBON DIOXIDE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5684142
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a mold binder having high productivity, long service life, and excellent disintegrating property, and which is cured rapidly with carbon dioxide, by using phenol resin hydroxyl groups of which are partially or totally etherified with carboxylic acid.

CONSTITUTION: A mold binder which is cured with carbon dioxide is prepared by kneading 100pts.wt. alkali metal salts of said phenol resin, 30W300pts.wt. hydroxide and/or oxide of polyvalent metal e.g. slaked lime, if necessary by addition with 1W100pts.wt. org. solvent e.g. methanol. Said phenol resin is produced by the reaction of the hydroxyl groups of phenol resin with the monohalogen derivative of aliphatic carboxylic acid.
