Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the yield of a metallic ingot by restraining heat loss from the upper surface side of a feeder head.
CONSTITUTION: A feeder head frame part 5 is arranged on a metallic mold 3 for ingot making. The opening hole area of an opening part 5a for supplying molten metal is formed smaller than the max. cross sectional area in the inner space of the feeder head frame part 5, and, plural gradient surfaces having mutually different gradients are formed between the lower end part in the inner peripheral surface of the feeder head frame part 5 and the opening part 5a for supplying the molten metal. At least one of the gradient variational position as the boundary of the gradient surfaces mutually adjoined in the vertical direction is the projecting gradient variational position P becoming the projecting state to the inner part space direction of the mold for feeder head, and this projecting gradient variational position P is arranged at the position opposed to the inner peripheral surface in the feeder head frame part 5.
