To provide a mold excellent in abrasion resistance and erosion resistance to molten metal.SOLUTION: A mold includes a ferrous mold base material, a nitrogen diffusion layer provided on an upper layer of the mold base material, a nitrogen compound layer which is provided on the upper layer of the nitrogen diffusion layer and a ferrous oxide layer which is provided on the upper layer of the nitrogen compound layer and forms an outermost surface layer.
