To provide a mold for shaping a member having a guide part at a curved surface, which is fabricated by a cutting process, in which a desired precision is satisfied, and in which reduction of the manufacturing cost and curtailment of the manufacturing period can be realized.
The mold 1 is an inner slide insert for shaping a cylinder member such as a cam frame having a cum groove. By attaching the formed end mill 2 having a tilted surface corresponding to the flank angle of the cam groove to a four-axis controlling NC processing machine and while moving along X, Y, and Z axes and while rotating the mold 1 around the C axis of the NC processing machine, the projection 1a for shaping the cam groove of the mold 1 is shaped by the cutting work. In the processing of the projection 1a the formed end mill 2 is subjected to relative movement along the contour of the projection 1a from the starting point P20 to the end point P30 via the point P26. The feeding speed for the processing at that time is set to a given feeding speed suitable for the cutting process.
