Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a briquette of steel making dust which is improved in the degradation in a unit requirement of electric power in a method of returning the steel making dust to an electric furnace and does not require the use of a flexible container bag and a method of concentrating zinc using this briquette.
SOLUTION: The steel making dust is molded together with a calcium source, by which the molding is made lower in melting point as compared with the steel making dust alone and since the molding is not deprived of excess heat, the finding that the degradation in the unit requirement of the electric power is ameliorated is obtained. The calcium source is thereupon compounded with 10 to 70 wt.% in terms of CaO with the steel making dust and the mixture is molded. The moldings are repetitively fed into the electric furnace until the zinc concentration attains a prescribed concentration, by which the steel making dust is recycled.
