PURPOSE: To form a pipe having numerous cantinuous covities extending in its wall in the axial direction, into a fancet into which underground water or the like cannot permeate, by using an outside mold shaped to reduce the diameter of the end of the former pipe and by closing the openings of the continuous cavities on the end of the fancet of the latter pipe.
CONSTITUTION: A pipe 1 having continuous cavities is held on a holding and thrusting-in unit. The end of the pipe is softened by heat. The holding and thrusting-in unit is moved to thrust the pipe 1 onto a mandrel mold 10 to increase the diameter of the pipe. The thrusting is not stopped until the end of the pipe is increased by a slope 19 provided on the end face 18 of a base member 14. An outside thrusting mold 12 is then moved toward the projecting part 14' of the base member to press the expanded part 20 of the pipe by the mold 12 to close the openings of the cavities of the part 20. The outside thrusting mold 12 is then moved back. A formed socket 4 is cooled by air or water. Split pieces 16 are moved in. The formed pipe 1 is pulled out.
