Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a molecular composite material having excellent mechanical performances and heat, water absorption and solvent resistances, comprising a liquid crystalline polymer, a thermoplastic polymer and a compatibilizing agent.
CONSTITUTION: The molecular composite material is obtained by blending (A) 100wt.% of a liquid crystalline polymer composed of a polyazomethine of the formula (Ar1 to Ar4 are each an aromatic residue; (x) and (y) are each an integer) heat treated preferably at 180-280°C with (B) a theymoplastic polymer (the most preferable example; nylon 6) composed of a (co)polyamide or a polyester and (C) 0.01-20wt.% of one or more compatibilizing agents selected from the group consisting of ε-caprolactam, ε-aminocaproic acid, adipic acid and a polyamide having 2-100 degree of polymerization, containing a functional group having compatibility and/or reactivity with the component A and/or the component B at 200-320°C for 0.5-60 minutes. The weight ratio of the component A:B is preferably 10:90-90:10 (especially 30:70-85:15).
