Title:
MOLTEN METAL DETECTING SENSOR IN METAL MOLD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH01158320
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To detect the filling of molten metal positively and to obtain a molten metal sensor in a metal mold having quick response speed, by providing a conducting terminal, whose bottom part is exposed to a part that is immersed in the molten metal at the time of filling, and whose material is conductive ceramics. CONSTITUTION:A type-2 sensor 5, which is shown in Figure (b), is provided at the side surface of a metal mold 3. When molten metal 4 reaches a level shown in Figure (c), a central conductor 2a, which is exposed to a side wall 3a of the metal mold, is shorted to a ring shaped conductor 2c with the molten metal 4 in the sensor 5. A detection display 8 is operated, and the fact that the filling level of the molten metal 4 reaches the position of the sensor 5 is displayed. When the level of the molten metal 4 rises up and is brought into contact with a central conductors 1a of two type-1 sensors 6 and 7 as shown in Figure (a), detection displays 9 are operated, and the completion of the filling is displayed. Thus, the molten metal level or the completion of the filling of the molten metal can be detected without delay in signals. There is no erroneous operation in detection. The sensor 5-7 are hardly corroded with the molten metal.
