To provide a filter for cleaning molten metal of high filtering efficiency having a function for capturing foreign matters contained in the molten metal, and to provide a device and a method for efficiently cleaning molten metal by using the filter.
A filter 11 is prepared by integrating a first filter member 15 of relatively coarse mesh and a second filter member 16 which is finer in mesh than the first filter member 15 with each other via a spacer 17. The filter 11 is stretched over a holding frame 18 and unitized. Two filter units 12A and 12B of the filter units 12 are disposed with an interval therebetween along a flow passage 2 of a transport gutter 1 with molten metal M flowing therein. The filter units 12 are turned by driving means 14A and 14B around the horizontal axis 13, and alternately installed in the flow passage 2, and the filter 11 is exchanged without interrupting the supply of the molten metal M to the transport gutter 1.
