Abstract:
To provide a molten metal flow observation device capable of suppressing the cracking of an observation window provided at a mold to directly observe a high temperature molten metal flow.SOLUTION: A molten metal flow observation device 1 comprises: a mold 5 to be introduced with a molten metal at the inside; and a mold heating means heating the mold 5 so as to be a prescribed temperature of 800 to 1,100°C. The mold 5 is provided with an observation window 45 in which an opening 46 obtained by notching a part of a bulkhead 24a prescribing a cavity 24 is disposed with a window member 48 to observe the inside of the cavity 24. The window member 48 is composed of a quartz glass having a thickness of 5 mm or more and a size of less than 225 cm2 in a planar view.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
