Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molten metal holding furnace for low-pressure casting capable of preventing air bubbles from entering from a lower end opening of a stalk and preventing contamination of foreign matter into a cast article and generation of a cast nest.SOLUTION: In a molten metal holding furnace 1 for low-pressure casting which includes a furnace body 2 provided with a molten metal storage container 4 made of an irregular refractory and provided with a stalk 6 communicating molten metal in the molten metal storage container with a cavity of a mold 10, and pressurized gas supply means 3 for supplying pressurized gas into an internal space of the furnace body, and pours the molten metal in the molten metal storage container into the cavity of the mold by applying a gas pressure to a molten metal surface L in the molten metal storage container by the pressurized gas supply means, an air bubble blocking member 13 having a size larger than the lower end opening 6a of the stalk is disposed on a hearth portion of the molten metal container 4 at a position facing the lower end opening of the stalk 6.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
