Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molten metal holding device that comprises durability to the molten metal of nonferrous metal and is long life, and holds the molten metal of the nonferrous metal.SOLUTION: A molten metal holding device 1 has a molten metal holding unit made of a refractory for holding the molten metal of nonferrous metal. The molten metal holding unit includes a refractory brick 5(a) on a portion for receiving the molten metal of the nonferrous metal poured, and includes a castable layer 4 on the remaining portion. The refractory brick 5(a) is a firing shaped refractory with the porosity of 10% to 20%, containing a silicon carbide of 60% to 95% at the weight ratio and the remainder comprising alumina. The castable layer 4 is a monolithic refractory with the porosity of 5% to 15%, containing the silicon carbide of 30% to 90% at a weight ratio and the remainder comprising alumina. Furthermore, the percentage of weight of the silicon carbide of the refractory brick 5(a) is 1.05-2.00 times the percentage of weight of the silicon carbide of the castable layer 4. The porosity of the refractory brick 5(a) is 1.3-2.0 times the porosity of the castable layer 4.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
