Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that a conventional optical submarine repeater has a complicated configuration of the repeater because a land side device transmits monitor information of a monitor control circuit on the basis of a command via a signal line resulting in needing the control circuits such as an analog/digital converter and a CPU.
SOLUTION: A superimposed current 12 consisting of a feed current 14 and a low frequency current 15 is supplied to feed sections 8a-8n, the superimposed current 12 modulates a stimulation light source 6 to modulate a main signal sent through the signal line 2 on the basis of an output of the stimulation light source 6, and the land side device 10 measured the modulated component to discriminate deterioration in the stimulation light source 6.
