Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation mode controller and control method for air conditioner in which an air conditioner can be controlled to operate in a specified mode even when a remote controller can not be used due to missing or malfunction.
SOLUTION: When a user separates a power plug from a socket and then inserts it into the socket, power supply to an air conditioner is interrupted temporarily (S20). If the power interruption time is within 3 sec, a decision is made that the user interrupted the power intentionally and the air conditioner is operated in automatic control mode where the intensity of cooling is regulated automatically by the room temperature (S50). If the power interruption time is longer than 3 sec, a decision is made that power interruption has occurred (S40) and the air conditioner is operated in a mode being set by the user prior to power interruption. Consequently, the user can control the operation mode of air conditioner even if a remote controller can not be used.
