To provide a monitoring apparatus that prevents a trailer coupled to a tractor from uncoupling from the tractor while driving.
The apparatus includes: an image acquisition device 10 for acquiring a captured image of a coupling part between the trailer and the tractor; an image recording device 12 for recording a reference image to be compared with an image acquired by the image acquisition device 10; a determination device 14 for determining whether the trailer uncouples from the tractor on the basis of the reference image recorded by the image recording device 12 and the image acquired by the image acquisition device 10. The determination device compares the reference image recorded by the image recording device 12 with the image acquired by the image acquisition device 10, and, when a locking part which locks the coupling part between the trailer and the tractor is uncoupled, determines that it is possible to uncouple the trailer from the tractor.
