Title:
MONITORING DEVICE FOR TOOL CLAMP SPRING EQUIPPED WITHIN MAIN SPINDLE OF MACHINE TOOL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3779527
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for monitoring degradation of spring force of a spring for clamping a tool equipped within a main spindle of a machining center.
SOLUTION: This machining center 1 has a table 20 and a column 30 on a bed 10. A head stock 100 is slidably supported for the column 30. A servo motor 50 mounted on a top part of the column 30 moves and controls the head stock 100 in an axis Y direction via a ball screw 52. The main spindle is equipped within the head stock 100 and the tool 200 is clamped. The tool 200 mounted within the main spindle is pulled by the clamp spring via a draw bar and is clamped. A cam follower 72 of a mechanical arm 70 mounted on the top part of the column 30 is engaged. When the head stock 100 is pulled up to a tool exchanging position by the servo motor 50, the mechanical arm 70 revolves, compresses the clamp spring and unclamps the tool. At the time, current carrying in the servo motor 50 is detected and degradation of the clamp spring is monitored.
