Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring system capable of automatically starting a monitoring operation without malfunction, and a monitoring method.SOLUTION: The monitoring system includes: a detection device for detecting a body motion of an object person in the bed to be monitored and outputting a signal corresponding to the detected body motion; a transmission device which is installed in an institution where the object person is located, inputs the signal outputted by the detection device and transmits the inputted signal; and a monitoring device which receives the signal transmitted by the transmission device and starts monitoring the object person in the bed on the basis of the received signal. The monitoring device includes: a determination part for determining whether the object person is on the bed on the basis of the received signal; and a start part for starting monitoring the object person in the bed when the determination part determines that the object person is in the bed, and after the lapse of a predetermined time from the determination that the object person is in the bed, by the determination part.
