PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent loosing equipment such as a personal computer, a portable telephone or the like the or a third party from using it without notice by automatically limiting.
SOLUTION: Equipment A and equipment B previously store common ID. The equipment A calculates an authentication value Sa by using the ID and a random number Ra. The equipment A transmits the number Ra to the equipment B. The equipment B calculates an authentication value Sb by using the ID and the number Ra received from the equipment A, and transmits the value Sb to the equipment A. The equipment A compares the value Sa with the value Sb received from the equipment B. The equipment A sets itself to an unusable state or generates an alarm if the equipment A cannot confirm that the values Sa and Sb are the same.
