Abstract:

To provide a monofilament for toothbrushes capable of appropriately setting hardness, durability and usability as the monofilament for the toothbrushes, preventing easy falling-off of the monofilaments implanted into a bristle base and improving stain-removal properties.

The monofilament for toothbrushes includes a core 2 consisting of synthetic resin fiber, and a sheath 3 integrally covering the core 2, wherein the sheath 3 consists of elastomer having compatibility with the synthetic resin constituting the core 2; and the cross section orthogonally crossing with the length direction is defined as a square. Preferably, the core 2 consists of polyester-based synthetic resin fiber and the sheath 3 consists of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). Especially preferably, the core 2 consists of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and the sheath 3 consists of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE).
