PURPOSE: A mothproof agent, containing a ≤5C alcohol as an active constituent, capable of exhibiting the mothproof effect by evaporation thereof in a closed container for containing clothing, etc., and lasting the effect thereof for a long period without deteriorating the effect even in a container with insufficient closing degree.

CONSTITUTION: A mothproof agent, obtained by previously impregnating a filter paper, etc., with a ≤5C alcohol 2, e.g. ethanol, or forming the alcohol into a gel or solid shape with a gelling agent or swelling agent, etc., and putting the alcohol in a closed container 1, e.g. a baglike film having a closable and openable chucklike opening part 4, and containing clothing 3.

EFFECT: The evaporation rate is high and the effect is powerful. Eggs, imagoes and larvae of injurious insects for clothing can be exterminated, and the safety for human bodies is high without giving damage to clothing or attachments thereof nor attacking the plastic in the container. Alcoholic smell is not left in the clothing, and the alcohol has antifingal and germicidal effect, and therefore is suitable even for containing and storing the clothing in a plastic container.
