Title:
MOTION CONVERTING MECHANISM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS60179565
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
An arrangement is described for converting reciprocating recitilinear motion, as of a piston (1), into rotary motion, as of a shaft 9, or vice versa. A member 6 movable in rectilinear motion is formed with an aperture 7 to receive the shaft 9, the aperture 7 has two longer sides extending substantially in the direction of rectilinear motion and spaced apart a distance greater than the diameter of the shaft 9 and has two substantially semicircular ends. Means 13 is provided for establishing a driving connection between the interior of the aperture 7 and the exterior 10 of the shaft 9 so that rectilinear movement of the member 6 causes rotation of shaft 9 and vice versa. Conveniently the aperture 7 and shaft 9 are formed with meshing teeth 8, 10.
