Abstract:
To provide a motion vector detection device which achieves motion vector detection with a few retrieval frequency and with good accuracy.
From a motion vector detected for a plurality of blocks (contexts) in the vicinity of a present processing object block, a motion vector detecting initial vector for the present processing object block is predicted. At this time, a plurality of initial vector candidates are generated based on a context comprising blocks of different numbers, and one corresponding to a reference image block which is more similar to the present processing object block among individual candidate vectors is made to be an initial vector.
