Title:
MOTION VECTOR DETECTOR AND DETECTING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3861325
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a motion vector with rough accuracy from a position of a picture element of an input image signal and to prevent a detection error.
SOLUTION: A pre-stage detection means 4 detects a 1st motion vector V1 with accuracy depending on a position of a picture element of an input image signal. An image signal whose motion is compensated by the motion vector V1 is obtained from a memory 2. A classification adaptive processing section 3 predicts a picture signal of a detailed pixel position more than the pixel position from the input picture signal. The predicted picture signal and the preceding picture signal whose motion is compensated from the memory 2 are fed to a post-stage detection section 9. The post-stage detection section 9 detects a 2nd motion vector V2 with accuracy corresponding to the pixel position smaller than the pixel position of the input image signal by a gradient method. An adder 5 adds the 1st and 2nd motion vectors to provide an output of a final motion vector.
