Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the motion vector detector for an image capable of detecting the motion vector of the image with high accuracy by interpolation estimation.
CONSTITUTION: A subtraction circuit 12 detects difference between the image data of respective picture elements in the block of a current frame and the image data of a representative point picture element in the block of the preceding frame read from a representative point memory 11, and a correlation integrated value table forming circuit 13 forms a correlation integrated value table. When the coordinate of a minimum correlation integrated value in the correlation integrated value table is a coordinate excepting for a coordinate corresponding to the representative point picture element, a motion vector estimating circuit 14 estimates the motion vector of the image based on the correlation integrated value in a peripheral coordinate, where the coordinate of the minimum correlation integrated value positions at the center, and the minimum correlation integrated value.
