Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an appropriate motion vector even in the case of using a limited search range.
SOLUTION: In a reference image storage part 101, image data to be referred to in a motion vector detection processing are recorded. In a present image storage part 102, present image data to be a standard in the motion vector detection processing are recorded. A motion vector detection part 103 matches the present image data and the reference image data and detects the motion vector of a least difference. In a motion vector statistic processing part 104, an average value and a histogram for each screen of a detected motion vector are calculated. In a shift amount setting part 105, the shift amount of a motion vector search range is calculated from the calculated average value and histogram for each encoding screen. In a search range specifying part 106, corresponding to the calculated shift amount, the motion vector to be searched is specified and motion vector detection is executed in the motion vector detection part 103.
