Abstract:
PURPOSE: To protect a motor from its overheat without providing such an overheat preventing protective element as a temperature-fuse in the motor.
CONSTITUTION: In an air conditioner for vehicles, when one of foot, bi-level and face is determined for the blowout outlet mode of the air conditioner based on the computed blowout temperature of air, it is set in the air conditioner as a desired blowout outlet mode, and the energization of a servomotor is so performed that a blowout-outlet switching damper is moved to the position of the desired blowout-outlet mode. In this air conditioner, a cumulative energization time T of a motor which is obtained as the difference between the integrated values of the energization and non-energization times of the motor is computed (S310-330). Further, an upper-limit time Tmax is so computed that the higher an internal air-temperature TR of the motor is the smaller Tmax is. When the value of T exceeds the value of Tmax, '1' which indicates the overheat of the motor is set in a flag F (S380-390), and the update of the desired blowout outlet mode is inhibited. When the cumulative energization time T is made zero, the setting of the flag F is returned to '0' (S340, S400-420).
