To provide a motor drive apparatus for a vehicle capable of securely preventing the simultaneous engagement of a plurality of two-way clutches incorporated in a transmission.
A first reduction gear train 23 and a second reduction gear train 24 are provided between an input shaft and an output shaft 22, and first and second two-way clutches 30A, 30B are incorporated. The rotation of a first friction plate 52a and a second friction plate 52b is prevented by retainers 36 of the two-way clutches 30A, 30B, and a control ring 51 is incorporated between the both friction plates 52a, 52b. The control ring 51 is shifted in the axial direction by a shift mechanism 70, so that the first friction plate 52a moves in the axial direction to be engaged with the first two-way clutch 30A, and the second friction plate 52b moves in the axial direction to be engaged with the second two-way clutch 30B. Rotation is prevented by a first rotation prevention means and a second rotation prevention means, so that the first and second two-way clutches 30A, 30B cannot be engaged with each other simultaneously.
