To provide a motor drive circuit, capable of controlling the torque, when braking a motor that is rotating in the positive-direction by applying a negative-direction torque to the motor.
The motor drive circuit 3 is provided with a plurality pairs of power-source side drive transistors 15, 16 and ground-side drive transistors 17, 18 for driving a coil 9 from an intermediate point; a drive current detection means 19 for detecting the drive current of the coil 9 on a power-source side; and a control circuit 20 which selects the power-source side drive transistors and the other ground-side drive transistors for applying a negative-direction torque to the motor, to turn on the transistors so as to allow the drive current to flow, when braking the motor rotating in positive-direction and which turns off both the selected power-source side drive transistors and the selected ground-side drive transistors so as to allow the regenerative current to flow, when the drive current becomes a prescribed value.
