A control section 40 controls at least one of drive parameters, such as drive voltage, drive duty ratio and drive timing, drives a built-in motor such as an iris motor 19, and controls the diameter of an aperture in an iris 12. When it is discriminated that the load of the iris motor 19 is large in an operation mode, based on an imaging mode and an exposure mode set by a user operation in an operation section 23, an attitude detection result by an attitude detecting section 29 and a temperature detection result by a temperature-detecting section 30, the control section 40 corrects the driving parameters so as to make the iris motor 19 generate a large torque. The iris 12 can be controlled accurately, since the correction is implemented so as to generate a large torque, when the load becomes large. Since the large torque is not generated at all times, power consumption can be reduced.
