Title:
MOTOR DRIVE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3891157
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a miniaturization and cost reduction of a switching device for a drive control circuit without sacrificing a drive responsiveness when starting or braking a DC motor.
SOLUTION: When starting the DC motor, an energization is carried out at 100 % duty ratio without limiting an energized current of the DC motor. At this moment, a time during which an energized current of the DC motor continues to exceed a current limit value Vref is counted with a timer. When the time reaches a preset time t38 (a little longer than the energizing time for starting under normal conditions), a current limiting operation is commenced which limits the current with the preset current limit value Vref. In this case, during normal operation, an energization for starting will be finished before the counted time of the timer reaches the time t38 and the current limiting operation will not be performed. For this reason, the energized current can be limited to a lower current value by the current limiting operation, thereby protecting the switching device, when a motor locking occurs, without sacrificing the responsiveness of the DC moor.
