Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide a motor driven pump in which pressure-flow characteristic suitable for secondary air supply to a catalytic converter for a vehicle is provided together with a long service life and efficiency of a motor can be improved. CONSTITUTION:Variation of flow against pressure variation of supplied air is minified, by using a vortex flow type pump 1. The pressure and the flow of supplied air can be easily controlled by this characteristic, so as to supply secondary air to a catalytic converter in suitable flow of extent not to lower the temperature of catalyst and under sufficient pressure. Further the pressure of the supplied air can be changed in the wide range while moderately keeping the flow. Further the life of the motor driven pump can be extended all the more because the rotating speed of the impeller of a vortex flow type pump is low. Furthermore, the motor can be automatically cooled so as to improve its efficiency, by providing the suction port 10 of air on the motor 3 side, and forming an air flow passage 11 inside the motor 3.
